Senior Market Advisor Not Gambling on Speakers at Upcoming Las Vegas Expo

National Ethics Association - Thursday, July 09, 2009

Senior Market Advisor Expo, the industry’s top event for financial advisors who serve seniors, has begun background checking selected speakers in an effort to allow only the highest quality advisors onto its program. To this end, it has tapped the National Ethics Bureau (NEB), an independent provider of background-check services and of errors and omissions insurance, to conduct its checks.

“Because Senior Market Expo is a peer-to-peer learning event, it’s crucial for attendees to have confidence in their presenters,” says Jen LaFlam, Publisher, Senior Market Advisor. “That’s why we have chosen the industry’s leading ethics advocate, NEB, to conduct background checks on selected speakers.”

The 2009 Senior Market Advisor Expo is slated for August 24-26 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. NEB members can save $50 off the early-bird rate by using the promotion code EBML54 before July 24, 2009.

NEB uses a background screening process called the Ethics Check System™. The system involves an extensive series of checks, including criminal and civil background screens; professional license verification; department of insurance reviews; NASD and SEC checks; state securities, commerce, or banking department reviews; and other Federal State, and private agency checks.

“The Ethics Check System™ is the most comprehensive seven-year background check in the financial services industry,” says Steven R. McCarty, NEB Chairman. “It’s designed to fully verify every aspect of an advisor’s background, from licensing and industry disciplinary status to personal bankruptcies and client settlements. Any advisor who passes our rigorous checks should shine brightly in the SMAX spotlight.”

Senior Market Advisor also uses NEB to background check authors in its magazine (licensed producers only) as well as the semi-finalists in its annual Senior Market Advisor of the Year competition.
