National Ethics Bureau Admitted into National Association of Professional Background Screeners

National Ethics Association - Wednesday, February 11, 2009

The National Ethics Bureau (NEB) has been accepted into the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS), the leading national resource for the rapidly expanding background screening industry.

“Being part of NAPBS reflects our commitment to provide comprehensive, reliable background checks to the financial services industry,” says Jeffrey S. Kopitz, NEB President and Co-Founder. “We look forward to tapping into industry best practices in order to further refine our background-check process.”

To qualify for NEB membership, financial professionals must pass NEB’s Ethics Check System™.  This comprehensive series of background checks not only looks for criminal and civil violations, it also verifies state-level licenses and continuing education credits.

According to Kopitz, all NAPBS members must uphold a rigorous code of conduct. Key precepts include:

  • Performing professional duties in accordance with the law and the highest moral principles.
  • Observing the precepts of truthfulness, honesty and integrity.
  • Being faithful and diligent in discharging professional responsibilities.
  • Being competent in discharging professional responsibilities.
  • Safeguarding confidential information and exercising due care to prevent its improper disclosure.
  • Avoiding injuring the professional reputation or practice of colleagues, clients or employers.

NAPBS also promotes compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and fosters awareness of issues related to consumer protection and privacy rights within the background screening industry, Kopitz said.

Comprehensive background checks have become more important that ever before with today’s record level scams and fraudulent investments. According to Kopitz, NEB’s background checks have become the industry gold standard for insurance & financial advisors.
